Pota buys South Spur
Coote Industrial has entered a binding agreement to sell its South
Spur Rail Services subsidiary to logistics company P&O Trans Australia
for $16 million cash.
Under the sale agreement, P&O will acquire 100 per cent of issued
capital of South Spur for $16 million cash, which includes a
pre-payment for maintenance work of $1 million which Coote will
provide.
South Spur will also continue to lease its rollingstock fleet from
Coote subsidiary Greentrains.
"We are pleased that South Spur, with the backing of a financially
robust owner and operator in POTA, will continue to have an ongoing
relationship with Greentrains," Mr Coote said.
"As previously announced, the board continues to pursue a
re-capitalisation of Greentrains to de-consolidate that entity from
Coote and settle on the second tranche of rollingstock which
Greentrains has committed to acquire from Gemco Rail.
"We believe that the sale of South Spur to POTA, coupled with the
opportunity to broaden the customer base through leasing of any
returned Greentrains rollingstock, should materially enhance
Greentrains' value and the prospects of successfully concluding a
re-capitalisation on appropriate terms."

RA212 pushed the narrow guage ballast fleet out of the yard yesterday and then back in to the loading area.

Is that the sole reason why they never used it? I laughed a lot when I read it. One of my friend who worked for CFCLA in Sydney once tried to enter the cab of CC203 locomotive (U201 sister), and sit on the driver seat, while he visited Bandung. Despite of his large body, he could do that without too much problem.
Perhaps the problem with the cab size have something to do with:
1. Dual driving console. I wonder if the one that facing b-side could be removed?
2. The seat is too close with driving console.
Size shouldn't be a problem. I have entered one old WAGR passenger coach at Railway Museum in Basendean which have a much even tighter space when compared to the U201.

Maybe it will be sold as it was obtained by previous owners of South Spur Rail and there appears to be no use for it now.

Re: South Spur Rail/Coote Industrial Operations
F40 is still in the same place at Bellevue its been for months, I assume its still a goer just no work for it.SCT005 wrote:Out of curiosity, any information available on Coote Rails F40 locomotive stored at Bellvue? Not seen much mention of it recently, just wondered if it is still a runner or if it's still going to be exported?
With a hostile takeover of Coote Industrial underway that could see new majority ownership anything could happen.
Its believed the previous sale was really only an enquiry but with prospect of new ownership sale of unused assets could be on.

Friday 12/03
D49 and D51 ran light engine Bellevue to Parkeston
NA1874 & 8044 on ARTC ballast train arrived Parkeston and attached D49 and D51
Saturday 13/03
D48 ran 7S65 rail train and empty ballast wagons to Kalgoorlie
KA212 ran 7S68 ballast train to ballast at night in Cockburn Junction area
The reason for the 2 x D's was the failure of an 80 class somewhere across the border on the way over and with a heavy
train, extra power was required.
