Latest BHPBIO SD70MACe order

I am glad we made the trip north twice last year to get the SD40's before they get replaced by the SD70's, exactly a year ago today 5 of the 20 were stored and we got 10 of the operational 15 out and about in a couple of days, at that time there were 9 of the then recently delivered SD70's at Boondarie being commissioned (4347-55).

When these latest SD70's arrive BHP will have a fleet of 74 of them!

There is a photo of BHPB Iron Ore 4365 in the August edition of Trains magazine, taken at the London, Ontario plant of EMD.

Port of Montreal shows Jumbo Challenger arrived on July 6th and is loading at SEC-B3 the other nine SD70MACe for BHPBIO and ETD is 8th July.

Reports from Canada indicate the next nine locomotives have been completed with Canadain National train #372 passing through Oshawa Ont. on July 3rd behind CN5674 & CN2642 with five BHPBIO SD70MACe units tarped behind the locos as GMDX2003 [4369], GMDX2002 [4368], GMDX2001 [4367], GMDX1010 [4366], GMDX1009 [4365].
These locomotives will be loaded onto heavy lift ship Jumbo Challenger at Montreal on July 7th together with the other five units at EMCC plant in London Ont that will also run on #372 to Montreal.

Report recieved from Canada advises three further BHPBIO SD70MACe locomotives arrived at MacMillan Yard from EMCC on 8th.
These locomotives GMDX1008 [4364], GMDX1007 [4363] and GMDX1005 [4361] were hauled out on 9th behind CN 2634 & CN 2404 to Montreal for loading .
Earlier CN 2611 & CN 2254 hauled GMDX1002, GMDX1001, GMDX1000, GMDX1006, GMDX1003 and GMDX1004 out on 8th for Montreal to be loaded.
All nine locomotives are at wharf in Montreal six arriving on 9th and last three on 13th.
These locomotives will be loaded onto Jumbo Shipping heavy lift ship Jumbo Fairlift that arrived in port today

Further information from Canada advises these locomotives will be loaded at Montreal Wharf Quebec.
The trackage onto the wharf in Toronto Ontario where the previous order was loaded has been removed as Toronto Port wants no rail anywhere in the docks only highway vehicles.
GMDX1004 is BHPBIO 4360, GMDX1003 is 4359, GMDX1006 is 4362

Reports out of Canada indicate EMDX1002, EMDX1002 and EMDX1003 have departed MacMillan yard Toronto Ont. for Montreal Qbe

Further information on these SD70MACe's has been advised from Canada
Three more SD70MACe's tarped for export as GMDX1004, GMDX1003 and GMDX1003 had been hauled from EMCC on June 3rd and were in GEXR yard in Stratford Ontario

Three SD70MACe have been traped and prepared for export then hauled to MacMillan yard in Toronto Ontario and stabled.
They are all under tarps with EMCC reporting numbers in preparation to be hauled to docks.
EMDX1000 is BHPBIO #4356, EMDX 1001 is BHPBIO #4357, EMDX1002 is BHPBIO #4358.
All these EMD reporting numbers are used over and over for each export order.

SD70MACe #4361 and #4363 were under test at EMCC test track East London Ontario on June 1st
SD70MACe #4364 and #4365 were under test at EMCC test track East London Ontario on June 2nd

Construction of the 18 SD70MACe on order by BHPBIO builders number 20098203-001 to 20098203-018 road numbers 4356 to 4373 is underway at EMCC [Elctro-Motive Canada Company] in London Ontario with #4358 under test on EMCC test track at East London on May 20th.
With delivery of these units later in the year all the SD40s will probably be withdrawn from ore haulage.
